Northern Ireland trip is incomplete without visiting the famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Situated near Ballintoy in County Antrim, this bridge links the mainland to the tiny island of Carrick-a-Rede. The bridge was erected by salmon fishermen in 1755.
This was a part and the last stop on our Game of Thrones tour from Belfast, some 5 minutes ride from the Ballintoy Harbour. The entry fee was not included in our tour ticket, so we had to pay £9 each, separately.
It was about a 1.5 km walk from the parking lot to the bridge and the road was quite uneven. But the view was amazing from the beginning to the end.
The trail was overall easy until you get closer to the bridge where you will have to climb down some steps to reach the bridge.

After waiting in a long queue, finally it was our turn to cross the 66 ft long bridge standing at around 100 ft from the sea below.
Only 5-6 people were being allowed to cross the bridge at a time.
We could not take out our camera on the bridge as it was too windy and the bridge was swaying too much. It was difficult to walk without holding the ropes on both the sides but we were lucky that at least the rain stopped when we crossed the bridge.
You will not get much time on the bridge as you will have to move to give others the chance to cross the bridge. So it is better to be ready with your camera (or ask someone else to take your pic) while you are crossing.
After spending some time on the tiny island and enjoying the view, we returned to our tour bus. Once you are on the island, you can walk a bit further and get a quick view of the fisherman's cottage which is the only building on the island.
We would absolutely recommend to take this tour while you are in Norther Ireland and if you don't mind walking a few kilometers. The price are absolutely worth it.
